From product photography to model-based imagery: how we use AI at FotoPro Studio

Real case: SPC Miami

In the fashion and e-commerce sector, imagery is everything. A good photograph does not just show a garment: it communicates brand, style, and value. That is why images with models remain one of the most effective resources for capturing attention and improving conversion in online stores and social media.

However, not all brands can afford the cost of a full production with models: casting, styling, makeup, studio, creative direction, and post-production. This was the case for SPC Miami, a brand that needed to showcase its hoodies and T-shirts on models, but whose budget did not allow for a traditional shoot.

The solution was to rely on one of our most advanced capabilities: AI-generated model imagery from white background product photos, always integrated within our professional workflow.

TABLE OF CONTENTS:

1.The starting point: high-quality product photography

Even if the final result is an image with a model, everything begins with classic product photography.

At Fotoprostudio, we first shoot the hoodies and T-shirts on a white background, taking care of key aspects:

  • Clean and balanced lighting

  • Accurate color representation of the garment

  • Visible fabric texture

  • Good volume and natural shape

  • High resolution and sharpness

This step is essential. AI does not “invent” the garment from scratch—it interprets the visual information we provide. The better the original photograph, the more realistic and accurate the final result will be.

That is why our AI process does not replace product photography—it builds upon it.

2.Project analysis and client needs

Once the photographs were taken, we worked with SPC Miami to analyze what kind of images they needed:

  • Show how the garment looks when worn.

  • Maintain a clean and commercial aesthetic.

  • Use the images for both web and social media.

  • Avoid a complex production with real models.

This initial analysis allows us to determine whether AI is the right solution and how it should be applied to meet the client’s objectives.

3.Creative direction before AI generation

One of the most common misconceptions about AI is thinking that everything is automatic. In reality, the key lies in the creative direction defined beforehand.

Before generating the images, we establish:

  • Type of model (profile, style, attitude)

  • Natural and believable poses

  • Proportions consistent with the garment

  • Overall visual aesthetic

  • The feeling the brand should convey

This briefing is essential to ensure the result is not generic or artificial. AI then becomes a tool that executes a creative vision defined by professionals.

4.AI-generated images with models

Based on the original photograph of the hoodie or T-shirt on a white background, we use advanced generative AI systems to integrate the garment onto a realistic digital model.

During this process, the AI:

  • Respects the original design and color

  • Interprets the fabric drape

  • Adapts the garment to a realistic anatomy

  • Generates poses consistent with the defined style

The result is an image like the one shown in this example: a hoodie that appears to have been photographed directly on a model in a studio, when in reality it originates from a well-lit product photo.

This makes it possible to create attractive images without the need for a full physical shoot.

5.Review, selection, and quality control

Once the images are generated, one of the most important phases begins: human review.

Our team analyzes each image to detect common AI-related issues, such as:

  • Garment deformations

  • Unrealistic details in folds or seams

  • Subtle color shifts

  • Problems with hands, arms, or proportions

Not all generated images are delivered. We select only those that meet our professional quality standards.

6.Final retouching and manual adjustments

Although AI provides highly advanced results, in some cases final retouching is necessary to perfect the image:

  • Fine color adjustments to match the real garment exactly

  • Correction of small visual artifacts

  • Enhancement of shadows and volume

  • Consistency across the entire image set

This step ensures that the final image is fully aligned with the real product the end customer will receive.

7.Advantages of generating model imagery from white background photos

Cost reduction

Allows brands with limited budgets to access model imagery without the need for a full traditional production.

Time savings

The process is much faster than organizing a shoot with models, making it ideal for frequent launches or large catalogs.

Scalability

Once the base is created, multiple images and poses can be generated from a single product photo.

Visual consistency

All images maintain a uniform aesthetic, which is key for e-commerce and branding.

Professional supervision

AI does not work alone: every image is reviewed and refined by imaging experts.

8.AI and photography: a collaborative workflow

At FotoproStudio, we do not see AI as a replacement for photographers or retouchers, but as an evolution of the workflow. This technology allows us to offer more flexible solutions, adapted to the real needs of today’s brands.

The SPC Miami project is a clear example of how to combine professional photography, artificial intelligence, and human supervision to achieve commercial, realistic images aligned with brand identity, optimizing resources without compromising quality.
